Getting Smarter All the Time
Did you ever wish your TV or VCR could just automatically and intuitively know what television shows to record for you, which ones to skip and when to record them? Or that could create your own virtual channel, chock full of your favorite programs running nonstop? Along similar lines as other personalized TV systems, Metabyte has come out with their own advanced personalized TV software that enables viewers to do just that.
Metabyte recently introduced MbTV, which allows viewers to customize their set-top boxes, satellite set tops, cable terminals or computers to their own ideosyncratic viewing habits and predilections. MbTV monitors and then learns what viewers watch and then automatically records or suggests programs to record without the viewer having to prompt the application.
In fact, the technology is said to be transparent, which is a boon for any techno-phobe. But for those who thrill in fiddling with technology and crave for advanced features, the software can be customized for users that want to record specific programs, conduct searches, or fine-tune the operation of the system.
MbTV also offers data storage options and management features for organization and retrieval of recorded programming.
Unlike other customized TV systems, MbTV does not provide a subscription service or electronic program guide. Instead it relies on already existing services that viewers use to customize itself for the viewer.
“MbTV leverages, rather than duplicates, existing infrastructure,” said Manu Mehta, Metabyte’s Founder and President. “It will change the way we use television, and it will change television itself.”
