Streaming Media Comes Down the Pipe

Anticipating market conditions, streaming media companies are preparing for a huge increase in audiences during the next two years.

Mark Cuban, CEO of Broadcast.com, a leader in audio and video Webcasting, predicted that soon some television and radio stations will have a bigger Online audience during the day than they have over the air. This is due in part to the popularity of media streaming via the Internet to Macs and PCs in the workplace.

Already, a large portion of radio stations broadcast over the Internet and the percent of stations that broadcast simultaneously via the Internet is only going to increase in the next few years.

Another phenomenon that is catching people’s interest is the use of streaming media for personal use. People who want to send updated videos of their children to distant family members are finding streaming media a convenient solution. Experts say the whole market is changing and broadcasters must become “narrowcasters” and target the niche markets if they want to take advantage of Internet media streaming.
