Intel Phasing Out Intercast
Tuesday, August 17th, 1999
Intel is phasing out Intercast, the interactive television service that brings additional television content to a home PC via a proprietary TV tuner card.
Instead, the company will increase its support for the Advanced Television Enhancement Forum’s specification (ATVEF), which is more of a robust universal standard than Intercast.
A handful of broadcasters currently use Intercast technology, including CNN, ESPN, Lifetime and QVC.
