Samsung to Underwrite Conversion of CBS TV Movies to HDTV
CBS Corporation and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced today that they have entered into an agreement in which Samsung will underwrite the costs associated with converting the majority of CBS Television’s movies to high definition television, including presentations of the “CBS Sunday Movie” and the “CBS Wednesday Movie.”
The converted programming, which will be broadcast beginning this fall and run thoughout the 1999/2000 season, will be presented in the 1080i format. Samsung’s underwriting commitment will be supported with advertising across several appropriate CBS media platforms.
