HBO Airs Cancer Documentary Enhanced with Wink Interactive TV

e-commerce on TV, and Home Box Office (HBO) announced today that they will
enhance HBO’s documentary, “Cancer: Evolution to Revolution,” using Wink’s
interactive TV technology. Television viewers who watch HBO’s special using
Wink can access information on the resources mentioned in the show as well as
request free educational material from The National Cancer Institute. The
documentary premiers on HBO on Thursday, March 30, at 8PM ET/PT.
Today’s announcement demonstrates the value of Wink’s enhanced TV in
conjunction with networks and shows. HBO and Wink have joined to assist in
making access to health information a simple, “one-click” process for
television viewers. With Wink’s interactive request feature, audiences can
easily obtain a list of resources for further information on cancer
prevention, detection and treatment.

HBO plans to include Wink’s Enhanced TV throughout the broadcast of the
two and one-half hour documentary, offering television viewers the opportunity
to request free cancer-related information with one click of their remote
control. The documentary debuts on HBO on March 30th at 8PM ET/PT. Additional
airdates include April 5th at 4:30PM, April 8th at 8AM, and April 17th at
2:30PM.
There are more than 150,000 TV viewers spread across the U.S. who have
Wink and will be able to access the free information being distributed by The
National Cancer Institute during HBO’s documentary. These viewers are spread
across cable markets in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan,
Missouri, New York, Tennessee and Texas. Using Wink is free for television
viewers and requires the regular remote control that viewers use in their
cable systems that are Wink-enabled.
