AFI Announces Third Annual Enhanced TV Workshop
LOS ANGELES–(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)–April 14, 2000–The American Film Institute
(AFI) today announced the deadline for the 2000 AFI-Intel Enhanced TV Workshop, an exclusive
production-based environment which provides television producers the opportunity to work with
world-class designers and technology innovators to prototype the next generation of digital television.
To help the community understand the emerging forms of television, including digitally enhanced TV
and broadband, AFI and Intel will hold a kick-off event at ATAS’ Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre on
Thursday, April 20 at 7:30pm-9:30pm. Past participants’ groundbreaking prototypes will be
presented and key learning will be discussed. Also on hand will be leaders from AFI, Intel and many
of the workshop advisors and mentors drawn from digital production’s most advanced companies.
Television professionals who would like to be considered for this year’s workshop must apply by
May 31, 2000. Qualifying participants are television professionals with programs in production or
slated for distribution for the 2000/2001 season. Selection will be based on the strength of the
programs and proposed plans for incorporating digital enhancements in future programming. For more
information and to register online, visit the AFI website at www.AFIonline.org.
“AFI’s leadership in enhanced TV and broadband television puts the focus on the artist,” said Jean
Firstenberg, AFI Director and CEO. “We hope that television producers of all genres of programming
will consider joining the workshop by submitting an application. It will jumpstart their thinking about
interactive television and give them access to the best minds in the field, thanks to Intel and an amazing
group of mentors.”
