Tvia and Metabyte Networks to Demonstrate Next Generation Personal Television and Personal Video Recorder
New Orleans, La - May 7, 2000 - Today at the NCTA Cable2K show, Tvia, Inc.
and Metabyte Networks, Inc. announced that they will demonstrate the next
generation integrated personal television and Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
for set-top boxes, personal computers and Internet appliances. The
demonstration, implemented as a Microsoft TV application under Windows CE,
will be run on a personal computer equipped with plug-in cards using Tvia’s
CyberPro 5000 streaming media gateway integrated circuit.

Tvia’s CyberPro 5000 is a streaming media gateway integrated circuit that
provides broadcast-quality video display, high-speed graphics, hardware
support for advanced effects like transparency, and blending for multiple
streams of audio, video, graphics, and Internet content. Together, MbTV and
CyberPro 5000 make it easy for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to
design personal television and PVR systems that will enable consumers to
create their own personal viewing environment on the television screen,
mixing and layering content from the Internet, live and recorded video, as
well as other sources like camcorders and digital cameras.
