NEW ORLEANS, May 9 /PRNewswire/ — Wink Communications (Nasdaq: WINK),
America’s leader in “one-click” e-commerce on TV, and Oxygen Media announced
today that Oxygen has launched Wink’s enhanced TV content on its programming
aimed at female viewers. Oxygen’s viewers can now access the Wink enhanced
content 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Oxygen Media, founded by cable veteran Geraldine Laybourne, talk show host
Oprah Winfrey, and Marcey Carsey, Tom Werner and Carolyn Mandabach, the
successful independent production team, launched its cable TV programming on
February 2 of this year. By entering into this agreement with Wink, Oxygen now
joins over 30 leading broadcast and cable networks to embrace Wink’s
end-to-end interactive television product.
Today’s announcement was made at the National Cable Television Association
Convention in New Orleans where the company is demonstrating its service.
“We are pleased to add Wink enhanced television into our programming,”
said Geraldine Laybourne, Chairman and CEO of Oxygen Media. “Wink’s in-program
e-commerce is a natural service to provide our media-savvy viewers. Their
technology invites a new level of participation.”
“Oxygen’s target audience of women is a terrific appeal for Wink,” said
Maggie Wilderotter. “Interactive enhancements which focus on providing
information on resources specific to women, details of program highlights and
shopping opportunities will be a valuable addition to Oxygen’s lineup.”
Oxygen media provides a 24×7 resource of information that is
always available to its viewers. At any time, during any program, a viewer can
click the remote control while tuned to Oxygen and access a detailed list of
current programs, further information on resources mentioned in programs, and
opportunities to purchase products.
