iStreamTV Launches Faster-than-Real Time Plant
New York. June 12, 2000: iStreamTV (www.istreamtv.com), a leading technology-enabling firm in the streaming media industry, announced today the deployment of its automated streaming media encoding plant. Using proprietary parallel processing computing power developed its own lab, iStreamTV can now encode in faster-than-real time, to provide optimal compression for Internet video. The Company’s proprietary noise elimination technology is included for VHS or other noisy source tapes.
iStreamTV encodes to all popular Internet formats, including RealVideo, Windows Media, and QuickTime. According to Chip Ruhnke, CTO of iStream TV, “our proprietary batch process software gives us high-volume, high-quality capacity at the lowest rates in the industry. Through this and our other technologies, it is now possible for companies to use digital media today and to realize cost savings, gains in efficiency, improved communications, and a boost in website stickiness.”
Silicon Alley-based iStreamTV is a technology development lab dedicated to designing and delivering the highest quality video and audio streaming media technology to targeted business-to-business markets. The Company’s core group of engineers has developed several key products that push Internet video technology to the edge.
The iStreamTV Webcaster-3 is a portable webcast system in a box. The Webcaster-3 features a ruggedized road case, broadcast style audio inputs, and generates three speeds of Internet video for both live webcasting and on-demand recording to the internal military-spec hard drive.
The iStreamTV Digital Set-top Box is the next generation Internet TV device that delivers on the promise of interactive video-on-demand. The patent-pending appliance allows hotel guests and hospital patients to surf the web and watch TV simultaneously. Full-resolution video is delivered to any standard TV set, along with clear and flicker-free Web display, 16-bit stereo audio, Javascript support, and e-mail functions.
The iStreamTV codec, a patent pending compression/decompression algorithm, delivers full-screen, thirty (30) frames per second, DVD quality video-on-demand in real time over broadband, with no downloads. Fully secure and field tested, the codec allows portals and content providers the opportunity to deliver pay-per-view content over closed systems in hotels, hospitals and corporate LAN’s and eventually to the home user through ever-increasing broadband connections. The codec provides the same quality of MPEG-2, but at one-eighth the file size.
“Streaming media is still one of the hottest markets in the Internet sphere,” says Charles Millard, New York Venture Capitalist and Investment Banker. “And I’m personally gratified that a New York-grown company, like iStreamTV, is poised to make a significant dent in the Internet industry as a whole.”
