EchoStar Offers Free Satellite Systems to Cable Customers in Two Colorado Towns

Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH, DISHP) announced today DISH
Network(TM) and a local cable company are teaming up to offer every
cable customer in Ouray and Ridgway, Colo., a FREE DISH Network
satellite TV system. This marks the first time DISH Network has
converted an entire town from cable to satellite TV.
After 18 years of providing cable television service, Ken
Schumann, owner of Ouray and Ridgway Cablevision, plans to shut down
the only cable TV system in the two southwestern Colorado mountain
towns at the end of June. DISH Network has agreed to offer all of his
cable customers a FREE DISH Network satellite TV system and a FREE
installation.
“DISH Network offers more channels at a lower price, and the
satellite television service provides better technology than cable,
including advanced on-screen program guides, Internet access and
digital video recording,” said Ken Schumann, owner of Ouray and
Ridgway Cablevision. “I want to make sure my customers have the best
television service possible, so I teamed up with DISH Network to offer
a free satellite TV system and free installation for the entire town.”
DISH Network sent a fleet of installation vans, a tractor-trailer
full of DISH Network satellite receivers and small dish antennas, and
22 technicians to begin installing satellite TV systems in over 300
residential homes and 25 commercial hotel/motels.
Cable and other satellite TV customers throughout the county will
also be offered a FREE DISH Network satellite system (MSRP: $199) and
a FREE standard professional installation (MSRP: $199), a savings of
nearly $400. DISH Network satellite television programming offers
hundreds of channel choices, starting with the 40 channels in DISH
Network’s America’s Top 40 programming package for only $19.99 per
month. In comparison, Ouray Cablevision offers only 22 channels for
$29.95 per month. DISH Network also offers ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX
network affiliates from Denver for only $4.99 per month.
DISH Network will provide customers in Ouray and Ridgway with a
DISH 500 dish antenna, which is a single small satellite dish with the
capacity to offer customers up to 500 channels of all-digital popular
satellite television, including entertainment, sports, news and
international programming, DISH Latino Spanish-language package, more
pay-per-view and premium movie channels, plus local channels that are
