Select Time Warner Cable Customers to Receive ReplayTV
July 18, 2000– Time Warner Cable and
ReplayTV, Inc. today announced that select
Time Warner Cable customers in Southern
California will soon be provided with ReplayTV
digital video recorders and the free ReplayTV
Service as part of their cable service. The
6-month trial, which starts in August, will include
a special ReplayZone, giving Time Warner Cable
customers new and powerful ways to find and
record the feature programming they want to
view.
“We believe the use of ReplayTV digital video
recorders has great potential to increase
pay-per-view revenues and the purchase of
premium content services by providing our
customers with more convenient ways to find
and locate the movies they want for viewing on
their own schedules,” said Tom Feige, president,
Los Angeles Division, Time Warner
Communications.
With ReplayTV, viewers can pause, instant
replay, rewind, quick-skip, frame advance and
watch in slow motion their favorite sports events
and TV shows. Using ReplayTV personal
television technology with the free ReplayTV
Service, viewers don’t have to miss their favorite
programs since ReplayTV automatically searches,
finds and records them for anytime playback.
Viewers can also create personal channels based
on themes or shows. Every time viewers sit
down to watch TV, the most current episodes of
their favorite shows are available on ReplayTV.
“We believe the ReplayTV digital video recorder
and the ReplayTV Service is a perfect fit with
the extensive and diverse programming choices
Time Warner Cable offers. We look forward to
showcasing the benefits of ReplayTV to Time
Warner Cable and its customers,” said Kim
LeMasters, chief executive offer of ReplayTV,
Inc.
ReplayZones on the ReplayTV Service give
viewers powerful new ways to find and record
the TV shows and movies they want. With more
and more content becoming available daily,
ReplayZones enable networks to provide
highlights of their offerings while allowing
customers to organize and manage their viewing.
The Time Warner Cable ReplayZone will
categorize movies into 10 genres. Customers will
be able to select a genre like “Comedy” and get
a listing of all the comedy programming
scheduled to appear on pay-per-view in the next
seven days. The viewer can then easily indicate
which programs should be recorded for later
viewing at their convenience.
