Interactive TV Industry Honors Their Own
New York – October 23, 2000 – CMP Media Inc. and iMIX Inc., producers of
interactive television’s (iTV) key trade event, iMIX v2.0, announced today
three winners of the event’s “Best of Show” award. Honored for excellence
in interactive TV (iTV) and the convergence of television and the Internet
were the collaborative efforts of ACTV, Inc. (Nasdaq: IATV) and TBS
Superstation, MetaTV and E! Online, and Spiderdance and MTVi.
The iMIX v2.0 event, held in New York, focused on bringing members of the
community creating interactive television content together. The primary
goal of the annual conference is to foster an open environment for
professionals to discuss strategic, technical and creative issues that
affect the developing iTV industry and exchange ideas about the issues,
challenges and solutions facing the industry today. The “Best of Show”
awards program provided an opportunity for exhibitors and their partners to
showcase their most advanced content and technology. The winners were
determined by balloted votes gathered from each conference attendee after
viewing the eligible projects.
The “Best of Show” awards went to:
ACTV and TBS Superstation – iWATCH Wednesday / WCW Content
ACTV’s HyperTV Networks and TBS Superstation joined forces for iWATCH
Wednesday, powered by ACTV’s HyperTV software. iWATCH Wednesday marks the
first time that convergence technology has been used to promote and enhance
an entire prime-time block of narrative programs on a weekly basis.
MetaTV and E! Online – E! Online for iTV
MetaTV teamed with E! Online to design, develop and deploy a cross-platform
TV service without affecting the content or production of their existing
Internet site or impacting their internal development resources. MetaTV’s
Universal PortalÔ Platform technology and professional services enables E!
Online to have a new TV centric design that incorporates the elements
necessary for a compelling enhanced television experience.
Spiderdance and MTVi – webRIOT
Partnering with Viacom’s MTV, in November 1999 Spiderdance launched webRIOT,
the first fully integrated online/on-air television show. WebRIOT is a
