NetClue Browser Integrates IBM Embedded Java Technology for Smart Devices
Java Web browser provider NetClue recently announced that it is working with IBM’s Embedded Systems Group to offer the Clue Browser as a complementary technology with IBM’s VisualAge Micro Edition. NetClue and IBM will jointly market and promote the combined technology.
The goal of the cooperative effort, which integrates the Clue browser with IBM’s Java technology deployment, explained IBM Embedded Systems Group Director Skip McGaughey, is to offer system developers the ability to deliver a feature-packed solution for set-top boxes, PDAs, vehicles, home networks and in business.
VisualAge Micro Edition, IBM’s implementation of embedded Java technology, includes integrated tools and runtime components specifically designed for small connected devices.
Both companies are pleased with the combined effort, which leans on IBM’s prominent market presence and NetClue’s innovative browser.
The Clue browser is part of NetClue’s Java-based embedded software solution for web viewing. Compact platform independent, it is a good embedded web browser for resource-constrained compact devices such as PDAs and Internet access devices for the automotive market. With a file size of just under 500KB, Clue’s Java browsers are compact, but don’t compromise features or performance.
Clue browser supports HTML 4.0, XML, HTTP 1.1, CSS, DOM, persistent cookies, memory and file caching, browsing history, JavaScript and Applets. When combined with IBM’s VisualAge Micro
Edition, Clue Browser offers device manufacturers a complete, high performance Web viewing solution.
