GrandTec Announces the ‘Ultimate Wireless’ High-resolution PC to TV Converter

DALLAS, TX—(August 1, 2001)— GrandTec, a leading developer in convergence technology, announced the world’s first truly wireless VGA to video converter: the Ultimate Wireless. The Ultimate Wireless features the latest scan conversion technology with an integrated 2.4GHz transmitter and separate receiver.
The Ultimate Wireless accepts a computer display signal from a VGA or Macintosh monitor source and converts it to either NTSC or PAL video. The video can be displayed on a television or other video display using traditional composite or S-video cables or it can be transmitted wirelessly to the audio/video receiver that connects to the video display using composite video. The Ultimate Wireless also provides a composite video throughput with switching that allows the user to switch between the computer display and a separate video source, such as a VCR. The Ultimate Wireless also transmits stereo audio from the computer sound card to the audio/video receiver. For the road warrior, it includes a battery pack that can run the transmitter for up to 4 hours.
With wireless conversion, the Ultimate Wireless eliminates the need for cable installations in boardrooms, auditoriums and classrooms. It can transmit the internet or DVD movies directly from the computer to any television in the home. By connecting the audio/video receiver to powered computer speakers, users can listen to mp3s, CDs or Internet Radio anywhere from the garage to the pool. It allows users to monitor a child’s computer use from the living room simply by changing inputs on the television.
The Ultimate Wireless is designed for use with any PC, Macintosh or Apple iMac computer that supports an external monitor. The unit includes inputs for VGA, composite video (RCA), and audio. Available outputs include composite video (RCA), S-video, RGBs video, and VGA for simultaneous monitor and TV display. The Ultimate Wireless ships complete with all the cables and power supplies required to use the unit right out of the box.
GrandTec USA will begin shipping the Ultimate Wireless in September 2001 with a suggested retail price of $179.99.
