Sofia Digital Releases MHP-conforming Digital TV Chat Service
Reprinted from a Sofia Digital press release:
Today (August 15, 2001), Sofia Digital has introduced a chat for digital television
conforming to the MHP standard. The television channel can keep the chat
open continuously. The viewers are able to simultaneously participate in
the chat and watch the television program. This enables conversations on
the subject matter of the current program. The chat can also be removed
from the screen, in which case only the television program can be seen.
Sofia Digital’s chat uses the MHP 1.0.1 standard. The chatters use their
remote controls and the return channels of their Set-Top Boxes to chat.
Alternatively, viewers are able to chat using their mobile phones.
Sofia Digital is a leading company specializing in making digital
television services for MHP. Sofia Digital is going to deliver the
world’s first superteletext, to be taken into regular use on the Finnish
terrestrial digital television channels. The terrestrial DVB MHP
broadcasts will begin in Finland on 27 August 2001.
