ReplayTV 4000 Receives a BusinessWeek “Best of 2001” Award

Reprinted from a SONICblue press release:

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Dec. 11, 2001 – SONICblue, the
Company that gives consumers control over how, when and where they enjoy entertainment on their televisions, announced that its ReplayTV 4000, the world’s first broadband and home network-enabled DVR, has been named one of “The Best Products of 2001” by BusinessWeek magazine. Cited for “taking digital video recorders to the next level,” SONICblue’s ReplayTV 4000
lets users record up to 320 hours of TV programs and other media and share these video clips
between rooms in the home or with friends, as well as providing consumers the option of playing
back recorded programs with or without commercials.

SONICblue began shipping the ReplayTV 4000 last month, undeterred by the lawsuits filed by
major television networks and movie studios.

“The television
networks and movie studios are attacking the very features that put the control back into
consumers’ hands and we believe these highly innovative, consumer driven features make the
ReplayTV 4000 one of the most sought after products of the year,” said Ken Potashner, SONICblue CEO and chairman.

The ReplayTV 4000 allows consumers to record a program in one room and watch it in another
at the touch of a single button, as well as send their recordings over the Internet to friends who
own a ReplayTV 4000. This increased flexibility and enhanced connectivity places consumers in
the driver’s seat to control how and when they watch their favorite programs.

SONICblue’s new ReplayTV 4000 models connect to a cable modem or DSL for fast and easy
transferring of video over broadband and can share video throughout the house via a home
network. The product can also store digital photos and home movies, allowing users to view their
favorite digital photos on the television. The ReplayTV Channel Guide, downloaded daily through
the broadband connection, offers a convenient, grid-based list of shows that can be recorded at
the touch of a button.
