CES - Moxi & EchoStar Collaborate on New Entertainment Suite

Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, NV, January 7, 2002 - Moxi Digital, Inc. (formerly Rearden Steel Technologies, Inc.), a developer of advanced platforms and products for enhanced home entertainment, and EchoStar Communications Corporation, the fastest growing U.S. direct broadcast satellite television company serving over 6.4 million customers, today announced that the two companies are collaborating on the development of an advanced software platform that will offer EchoStar customers a new suite of entertainment applications and services. The alliance expands upon the existing relationship that began last year when EchoStar participated in Moxi’s first round of funding.

Moxi, which also today unveiled the details of its product strategy and vision for dramatically enhancing and simplifying the home entertainment experience, (please see separate release), will partner with EchoStar to deploy the Moxi software platform in advanced EchoStar satellite TV receivers. Moxi’s applications will provide immediate value to EchoStar by delivering a flexible software platform that will allow for future revenue opportunities as well as new ways to navigate, find and experience digital media. Other software enhancements that are in development include advanced personal video recording functions, digital music services and the delivery of advanced pay per view offerings, such as DVD-enhanced movies.
