NEW ORLEANS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ — Pioneer Digital Technologies Inc., a leader in interactive navigation software, will showcase its video-on-demand (VOD) and subscription video-on demand (SVOD) capabilities with Passport 3.0 in booth #1833 of the Morial Convention Center at the National Cable Television Association conference this week. This technologically-advanced product offers cable TV system operators exciting new services that provide competitive differentiation and added revenue-generating opportunities.
Designed to enable any on-demand video streaming service, the Passport 3.0 applications are a client-server software solution. The applications provide a multi-vendor standards-based solution with a web-based interface for operator configurable controls. This allows for flexible buy windows, enhancing customer satisfaction, and optimizing revenue opportunities for the operator. This multi-platform solution is compatible with a variety of digital set-top boxes. It provides MSOs with the tools to control the presentation of their customized on-demand services and to offer tiers of single or bundled products. Pioneer has engineered Passport 3.0 in compliance with the Interactive Services Architecture (ISA), so operators can integrate it into any ISA compliant server with complete compatibility.
Passport 3.0 provides DVD-like trick functionality of fast-forward, reverse, pause, and stop. With multiple and simultaneous movie purchase capability, viewers can buy as many movies as they want, and switch between those movies with a click of a button. For cable TV subscribers who are familiar with these functions, Passport 3.0 is a natural and intuitive user interface and represents a new dimension to the home movie pay-per-view experience. The SVOD feature of Passport 3.0 extends the pay-per-view on-demand model by allowing unlimited viewing of premium programming providing additional customer convenience, choice, and control as well as trick DVD functionality. Passport 3.0 enables ease of navigation through seamless integration of broadcast style graphics with sophisticated animations and transitions to provide a superior quality TV viewing experience. Subscribers can customize the Passport 3.0 user preferences and set parental control options to fit their individual desires.
Pioneer’s Passport 3.0 is platform and hardware-independent, operating on the Motorola DCT(TM) series, the Scientific Atlanta Explorer(TM) series, and the Pioneer Voyager 1000 and 3000 series, among other digital set-top boxes.
