Ridgefield Park, NJ - Samsung Electronics America, an established innovator of award-winning DVD and digital technologies, and Klipsch Audio Technologies, one of the most respected loudspeaker brands in the U.S. specialty market, have joined forces to introduce the ultimate DVD Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) system, the HT-SK6. The HT-SK6 combines the power of Samsung DVD and Klipsch loudspeaker technology with space-saving convenience, simple set-up and ease of operation to present a compelling piece for the true Home Theater enthusiast.

The HT-SK features a Samsung single-disc DVD progressive scan player with a built-in 5.1 channel amplifier boasting 725 Watts of total audio power, and Klipsch’s Quintet Microsystem, the world’s smallest horn-loaded 5.1 surround sound system at just 7.5-inches tall. Offered in a silver finished, compact design, the HT-SK is easy to set up via the on-screen menu and offers the benefit of a single manual and remote that ensure consumers will enjoy a top-line home theater system without the guess work of selecting and setting up individual components.

The HT-SK6’s versatile DVD player is capable of DVD, CD, VCD, MP3-CD and CD-R/CD-RW playback. Samsung’s coveted progressive scan system has been included for the pristine, flicker-free images videophiles have come to expect. Two auxiliary inputs allow consumers the option of adding additional video sources. The HT-SK6 is enhanced with a Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro-Logic II decoder, which advances on the first Pro Logic’s four-channel audio by producing stereo surround sound for the two rear channels. A DTS (Digital Theater System) decoder is also included with the HT-SK6 system, which provides playback of that format. The HT-SK also offers a digital tuning system with 30 presets for added convenience and functionality. The amplifier of the HT-SK6 provides 100 watts of power per channel making this one of the most powerful HTIB systems on the market.

The two-way Quintet satellite speakers include exclusive Klipsch MicroTractrix Horn tweeters that cleanly and accurately handle high frequencies, and a 3.5″ fiber-composite woofer that delivers smooth, mid-bass reproduction. The elegant, elliptically shaped cabinet is molded out of a thick, dense polypropylene material that reduces vibration and distortion. The ported bass reflex design maximizes bass response, allowing ultradynamic performance and a seamless blend with the Quintet center channel and KSW-10 subwoofer. Each video-shielded satellite speaker is designed with a swiveling pedestal foot for convenient wall mounting or bookshelf placement.

The two-way, video-shielded, bass reflex design center channel uses the same Klipsch MicroTractrix Horn tweeter and two of the 3.5″ fiber-composite woofers found in the satellites to ensure an ideal sonic match and proper driver transition across the listening area. The high-impact, down-firing 10″ woofer of the KSW-10 is powered by a 225-watt amplifier that provides the deep bass response needed to reproduce hard-driving music bass and explosive cinematic punch.

“Klipsch’s fifty-six year history of producing premium quality speaker products,” said Claude Frank, Director of Digital/Audio products for Samsung Electronics America, “as well as the cult status they have created with their customers, presented Samsung with a golden opportunity to match two top brands to offer consumers an upgraded HTIB solution. Coupling the expertise of Samsung’s DVD with the power and clarity of Klipsch speakers, the HT-SK6 creates hi-end, concert-quality sound matched with the simplicity of a HTIB.”

“Samsung could have chosen from dozens of eager OEM suppliers for this new technology partnership,” said Fred S. Klipsch, CEO and chairman of Klipsch Audio Technologies. “Samsung chose Klipsch because they understand the value of doing business with a best-of-class brand. Our passion for the powerful, detailed reproduction of music and film sound is the perfect complement to their highly advanced new DVD receiver.”

The HT-SK6 will be available in the fall of 2002 for $1,199 (MSRP) at select retailers, including: Tweeter, Ultimate Electronics, Magnolia HiFi, Now A/V, American TV, Nebraska Furniture Mart, The Wiz, Good Guys and Vann’s.
