SnapStream to Extend TV Program Playback Capabilities to BroadQ’s QCast Tuner Home Entertainment Software for Sony PlayStation 2 Console

September 16, 2002 - BroadQ,LLC, (www.broadq.com) a software company developing innovative solutions for communicating digital content and SnapStream, Media, Inc., (www.snapstream.com) a leading developer of digital entertainment software, have completed an agreement that will integrate SnapStream’s Personal Video Station TV recording software with BroadQ’s QCast Tuner home entertainment software for the Sony PlayStation 2 game console.
SnapStream’s patent-pending TV recording software resides on the networked PC and makes TV recordings onto the PC’s hard disk. BroadQ’s patent-pending software resides on the networked PlayStation 2 console and provides access to PC-based digital media, such as SnapStream recordings, for playback on the television with the touch of a button on a remote control. BroadQ’s QCast Tuner software is the only software available for a game console to provide access to music, video, images and television, such as that created by SnapStream’s TV recording software. The combination of products from BroadQ and SnapStream marks the convergence of digital and mainstream entertainment.

SnapStream’s Personal Video Station turns the PC into a TV recording device giving consumers the ability to digitally record favorite television shows onto the PC hard disk in a PVR (personal video recording) fashion. Then, SnapStream TV recordings can be accessed anytime, anywhere — over the wireless home network, over the Interent, on handheld devices, on laptops, and now, with the QCast Tuner software, back on the television in the living room.
BroadQ’s QCast Tuner home entertainment software is a content delivery solution that allows users to turn a Sony PlayStation 2 console into a digital media center. The QCast Tuner software features an easy-to-use, advanced media management interface allowing users to create and manage integrated music, video, images and television program play lists on their television using a compatible infrared DVD remote control or game pad. The current version supports MP3, MPEG -1, MPEG-2, and MPEG -4, and DivX* video technology formats.
