ADS Announces Instant TV Deluxe USB Capture Device with PVR Capabilities

ADS Tech (www.adstech.com) announced today Instant TV Deluxe, a unique external USB 2.0 device that allows Windows PC users to watch and record their favorite television shows from any TV signal–cable TV, digital cable, satellite TV or standard TV. A complete, ready-to-use solution, Instant TV Deluxe includes time-shifting capabilities; an infra-red remote control for TV tuning, recording and playback; an Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) and the ability to schedule and record TV shows for viewing at a more convenient time. ADS Tech will demonstrate the versatility and flexibility of Instant TV Deluxe at its CES Booth #19056 this week.
Instant TV Deluxe includes a cable-ready TV tuner for cable TV installations and a special IR Blaster that can control cable and satellite receiver boxes so users can record live TV no matter how they receive the broadcast in their home or office. Video can be captured from any analog video source and can be recorded in the MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 format to a VCD, SVCD (CD-ROM) or DVD disc with a CD or DVD burner.
With the USB 2.0 interface, installation is simplified because the new Instant TV Deluxe can be attached to a broad range of USB-enabled PCs without having to shut down or reboot the system. The device mounts automatically as soon as it is connected. High-speed connectivity also ensures fast audio and video transfer rates-MPEG-2 video can be recorded at up to 15 Mb/sec.
The SnapStream Beyond TV Basic application that is included with Instant TV Deluxe is an easy-to-use application for dynamic TV viewing, complete with overlays that can be used to view information about the show as it is being viewed. Using the software’s time-shifting capabilities, Instant TV Deluxe customers can conveniently pause live TV during interruptions and can resume viewing where they left off when they return. In addition to being able to pause and rewind live TV, users can quickly and easily create their own instant replays of favorite scenes or sports events.
With Beyond TV Basic’s integrated Electronic TV Programming Guide, users can schedule TV recording on their PC up to seven days in advance with a single click of the mouse or remote. TV recording can even be scheduled remotely via the Internet or from a WAP-enabled cell phone.
Like all of the products in ADS Tech’s award-winning USB Instant product line, Instant TV Deluxe includes CapWiz 3.0, one of the only video capture applications that lets users preview video at full resolution; and Video Studio 7 SE DVD with advanced video editing features such as video speed (fast motion or slow motion video) and support to edit DVDs.
Availability, Pricing
ADS Tech’s Instant TV Deluxe will be available through ADS Tech’s network of online and retail channels worldwide in March 2004 with an ESP of US$229. A complete hardware and software solution, Instant TV Deluxe is bundled with Beyond TV Basic, CapWiz and Video Studio 7 SE DVD software. Instant TV Deluxe also comes with a power supply, an infra-red remote control (battery included), a USB IR Receiver/IR Blaster, a 20-ft. IR Blaster cable with IR emitter, audio/video cables and a user manual.
System requirements include a Windows 98SE, Me, XP or 2000 system equipped with an Intel Pentium III 400MHz or faster processor, a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port, an AGP graphics card, a sound card for audio playback and a capacity of approximately 4 GB for every 2 hours of video recording time. A CD-ROM for software installation and a CD or DVD writer for VCD, SVCD or DVD creation are also required.
