Linksys Announces Wireless-B Media Link

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems Inc., the leading provider of broadband, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) markets, today announced a new addition to its Wireless Home product line, the Linksys Wireless-B Media Link for music (WML11B), which allows users to listen to digital music on their living room stereo.
The Linksys Wireless-B Media Link bridges the analog and digital worlds using Wireless-B (802.11b) networking to deliver digital audio content from a PC to a home stereo. With the Media Link, users can listen to MP3s, WMAs and play lists stored on a PC or other storage devices on a home stereo, without running cables through the house. The Media Link also offers access to thousands of global Internet radio stations and support for music streaming services. With optional speakers, the Media Link can also extend the same music to areas of the home without a stereo like the kitchen, patio or bedrooms.

This Wireless-B device sits by a home stereo system and connects by standard RCA cables or an optical SPDIF cable for 100% digital operation. Equipped with an embedded LCD screen, users can select songs, play lists, and services on the built-in display. Users operate the device with an easy to use infrared remote control or by scrolling through music lists and songs with the buttons on the device itself. The Media Link connects to a home network with the built in 802.11b wireless function or via standard a 10/100 Ethernet cable if a home is wired with Ethernet.
