MainConcept Announces PVR Solution

Reprinted from a MainConcept press release:

MainConcept, a leader in video codecs and editing technology, presents a first solution of their PVR and Intel’s Digital Home vision at the IBC 2004 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The project is based on a developer collaboration between Intel and MainConcept which enables users to share digital media over a home network. The MainConcept PVR — Personal Video Recorder — is the best solution for watching and recording TV, organizing your recorded videos etc. on this network.

Intel hardware solutions are the backbone for the whole network. The uPnP (universal Plug’n'Play) architecture makes it easy to install the whole system for every home user. The main server and the clients are connected via a home network, so users within the house are able to share their digital media, such as videos, pictures, music etc. The ultimate goal is to enable consumers to access digital content from any device, anytime and anywhere, both inside the home and on-the-go.

In this network the MainConcept PVR offers the perfect solution for watching TV and sharing the recorded videos over the home network. The PVR can be controlled completely on a standalone TV and the recorded videos are automatically added to the network, so every user has access to them. On the IBC 2004, MainConcept present how recorded files are automatically added to the sever, so that it can be played back on a TV. The final solution will offer far more features, such as complete control of the PVR on your TV via remote control. The MainConcept PVR software and the Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology are the perfect all-in-one solution for the Digital Home.

MainConcept presents a first preview of Intel’s Digital Home Vision at the IBC 2004 on booth 8.221. We will give your an impression of how the MainConcept PVR works in this network system, and show you the future potential behind this home network system.
