Nero MediaHome Certified Designed to DLNA Guidelines
Reprinted from a Nero press release:
Nero, leaders in digital media technologies, announced today their Nero MediaHome product has been granted "Designed to DLNA Guidelines"* D2G status of the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). This global cross-industry organization, comprised of leading companies from the computer, entertainment electronics, and mobile telecommunications industries, aims to establish uniform standards for digital home networking.
Nero MediaHome complies with the compatibility requirements of the "real-life" test installation where it was connected with other "Designed to DLNA Guidelines" products. The previously Universal Plug and Play audio/video (UPnP A/V) certified media server automatically recognizes UPnP devices in networks, including their digital data, makes available to them audio, video and photo files, and converts them into compatible formats (JPEG, LPCM and MPEG2).
The goal was to provide consumers with a user-friendly system for managing their music, video and photo collections via a local network. Specific songs or films can be conveniently accessed from different multimedia devices within the home. Format conversions, often necessary when using different types or brands of devices, are performed in the background, eliminating any technical complications for the user. Nero MediaHome links computers and multimedia devices to create a single media center.
"We are proud to have one of the first software products that conforms with the ‘Designed to DLNA Guidelines," says Udo Eberlein, President, Nero Inc. "Nero MediaHome provides our customers tomorrow’s state-of-the-art technology today."
DLNA’s “Designed to DLNA Guidelines” Program allows interoperability testing and associated marketing opportunity for products based on the DLNA Home Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines v1.0 (HNv1.0).
The “Designed to DLNA Guidelines” Program is an interim phase before the introduction of the comprehensive, official DLNA Certification Program.
