May 10, 2006 Avid Technology, Inc. today announced that its consumer division, Pinnacle Systems, has introduced Pinnacle PCTV Pro USB a new addition to its award-winning family of PCTV products that make it easier than ever for consumers to enjoy television content on their desktop PCs, laptops, or mobile devices. The new Pinnacle PCTV Pro USB product is a complete solution for people who want to use their computers to watch live TV, turn their desktop PCs into personal video recorders (PVRs), and enjoy their favorite TV shows whenever they want from virtually anywhere in the world.

According to data from The NPD Group, U.S. retail sales of TV Tuners for PCs increased by 29% in 2005 based on dollar volume.
